The Power of Prayer
In Fall 2008, while in discipleship class prayer came alive for me. I know this statement may be shocking to some but up until that day my prayer life was minimal. I knew the Lord’s prayer, I knew how to pray over my food, but never would I imagine that I would experience the magnitude of the power of prayer.
That one day changed my life forever, I recognized the gift of intercession within me. Prayer at its core is more than just words whispered into the atmosphere. It is a deep communion with the Almighty, a sacred dialogue between the finite and infinite. It is a journey into our deepest longings, joys, fears and gratitude flow into the arms of the Divine. Prayer is a steadfast anchor, connecting us to our Lord. James 5:16b reminds us of the profound truth: “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
This passage of scripture speaks of intensity, of earnestness, of a heart ablaze with passion. When we pray with fervor, we are not just going through the motions; we are pouring out our souls, laying bare our vulnerabilities, and surrendering our will to something greater than ourselves.

On that day in Fall 2008, God used me to tap into the heavenly realm through fervent prayer. After that day, my life has never been the same. Growing desire to please and draw closer to God; He has used me to great lengths through prayer. Even today sixteen years later, I cannot fathom the scope, but the experiences have been wonderfully fulfilling.
Prayer is the key that unlocks the door to miracles, the bridge that spans the gap between the seen and the unseen. It moves mountains, calms storms, and heals wounds. It brings comfort to the weary, strength to the weak and hope to the despairing. More importantly, prayer deepens our relationship with the Lord. Finally, I leave you with this thought. If you ever question the gift of intercession, God has birthed on the inside of you remember this… Do not underestimate the power of prayer. Surrender and allow God to use you to usher in His will for the nations.
