The Role of Intercessors in Revival (Part I)
Why Prayer is the Key to Revival…
In many Western nations, faith is on the decline. Churches are struggling, and an increasing number of people are walking away from their faith, especially the millennials. But throughout history, revival has always been preceded by one key factor: prayer. If we want to see a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our communities, workplaces, and schools, we must take our place as intercessor spiritual warriors standing in the gap for this generation.
What is an Intercessor?
An intercessor is someone who prays on behalf of others, calling on God to intervene in their lives. In Ezekiel 22:30, God says, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land…” Revival requires believers willing to intercede for their families, cities, and nations. Intercession must continue until the prayers come into fruition.
Why is Intercessory Prayer Crucial for Revival?
It prepares hearts – Before revival, God softens and convicts hearts through prayer.
It breaks spiritual strongholds – Many regions are bound by unbelief, sin, and apathy. Prayers tear down these barriers.
It invites the presence of God – Revival happens when God’s presence invades a place, and prayer ushers in His Spirit.
👉 Challenge: Dedicate time each day to pray for revival in your community. I recommend starting with 10-15 mins. Watch how your prayer time increases. Be sure to always invite the Lord into your prayers. Being immersed in his presence revives, refreshes and restores us.
