Trusting the Process

Trusting the Process: While Waiting on Answered Prayer

Scripture: “May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose.” – Psalm 20:4 (NKJV)

Have you ever prayed for something, believing in faith that God would move swiftly, only to find yourself waiting? Maybe you’ve been seeking a new home, a breakthrough in your career, or a shift in your family situation, but nothing seems to be happening. I can relate to everything mentioned.  I am in the waiting pool.  Just yesterday, I received news about a situation, that made feel some kind of way.   Or it’s easy to become discouraged when our prayers don’t receive an immediate response. However, scripture reminds us that God is always working—even in the waiting.  As I started to feel the negativity arise, I heard the Lord say "Trust the Process."

Psalm 20 is a powerful passage that encourages us to trust in the Lord, not just for the outcome but for the process itself.

The Journey of Trust

When we bring our desires before God, we often expect an instant answer. God is not a microwave. But just as a seed needs time to grow into a tree, our blessings often require a process. The home you are believing God for may not be ready yet—or maybe you are not ready yet. God may be working behind the scenes, preparing you for the responsibility, aligning the right people, and positioning you for favor.

Psalm 20:7 reminds us:
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”

This verse challenges us to trust in God’s timing rather than our own abilities or external circumstances. The world teaches us to rush, to strive, and to force things into place. But when we trust in the Lord, we recognize that He is orchestrating every detail according to His perfect plan.

What to Do While You Wait

Waiting on God is not passive—it’s an active process of faith, obedience, and preparation. Here are three ways to trust the process:

  1. Stay Rooted in Prayer – Keep seeking God, not just for what you want but for His guidance and wisdom. Psalm 20:1 says, “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you.” He hears you, and He will answer in His perfect time.

  2. Prepare in Faith – If you’re praying for a home, start preparing for homeownership. Improve your finances, research neighborhoods, and get your heart ready for stewardship. Faith without works is dead (James 2:26).

  3. Praise in Advance – Psalm 20:5 says, “We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners!” Worship is a declaration of trust. Praise God as if the prayer has already been answered.

God’s Timing is Perfect

The last verse of Psalm 20 is a powerful reminder:
“Save, Lord! May the King answer us when we call.” – Psalm 20:9

God hears you. He is not ignoring your prayers. If He has not yet answered, trust that He is still moving. The delay is not denial—it is divine preparation. Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep believing. When the time is right, He will fulfill your heart’s desire.

Be encouraged—your process is part of your promise!
