Soaring Like Eagles: Wisdom and the Power of Prayer in This Season

Recently, I found myself gazing out of an airplane window, watching as the world below grew smaller and the sky opened wide. The view was phenomenal—mountains stretched like ripples, clouds floated like soft blankets, and the horizon seemed endless. Directly under me was the Atlantic ocean.  As always I am mesmerized by God’s awesome creation.  In that quiet moment, I was reminded of one of Scripture’s most powerful images: the eagle.

God often uses the eagle as a picture of resilience, power, and perspective. Eagles don’t run from storms; instead, they spread their wings and allow the very winds of adversity to lift them higher. What a lesson for us as we step into a new month and new season! Wisdom calls us to do the same: not to shrink back when life feels overwhelming, but to lean into God’s strength and rise above.

The Eagle’s Lesson for Us

Isaiah 40:31 reminds us: “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” The eagle teaches us that true resilience doesn’t come from striving harder—it comes from trusting deeper. In what areas of your life are you learning to fully trust the Lord?

When we try to rely solely on our own strength, we often burn out. When I first stepped into entrepreneurship over 15 years ago, I leaned entirely on my own strength. You may be wondering why. At that time, I had knowledge of God, but not a true relationship with Him. I hadn’t yet learned the value of seeking Him first in every decision. I didn’t understand what it meant to invite God into the entrepreneurial process and trust His guidance. As a result, I found myself repeatedly hitting brick walls.   But when we spread our wings in faith, God’s Spirit carries us higher than we could ever go on our own. This isn’t just poetic imagery; it’s practical wisdom. In these last five-seven years, my mindset has shifted. Each day I’m learning to seek God in every decision I make. It’s not just about asking—it’s also about pausing to listen for His voice. That posture of listening has allowed me to rise above obstacles and truly begin to soar like the eagle.  Seasons of difficulty are inevitable, but they don’t have to define us. With God’s guidance, we can find the lift we need to soar.

Where Prayer Fits In

Prayer is the key to catching those winds of resilience. Just as the eagle waits for the right current before launching into the sky, we too must wait on God in prayer. Prayer positions us to hear His voice, receive His wisdom, and move in His timing. In prayer, our perspective shifts. What once looked like a storm becomes an opportunity to rise. What feels like defeat becomes a chance to grow. Prayer doesn’t always change our circumstances immediately, but it changes us—making us stronger, wiser, and more resilient.

Moving Into This Next Season

As we step into this new season, let’s carry the eagle’s lesson close to heart: rise above, lean into God’s strength, and don’t face the winds alone. Make prayer your starting point, your anchor, and your fuel.

  • Start your mornings in prayer. Ask God to set your perspective higher than your problems.

  • Pray through challenges. When the winds blow strong, let prayer become your lift, not your weight.

  • Close your days in gratitude. Thank God for His faithfulness that carried you.

In doing so, we don’t just survive the storms—we soar above them. 🦅
