The Power of Soaking Prayer: Resting in God's Presence

Image
"But one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.” – Luke 10:42 (CSB) Let me begin by sharing, the words soaking prayer are not mentioned in the bible.   However, in my opinion, soaking is a posture we can take as prayer warriors. Merriam Webster (n.d.), defines soaking as to lie immersed in liquid (such as water)  :  become saturated by or as if by immersion.     To immerse ourselves means going deeper.   Even Jeremiah 33:3 tells us to Call to me and I will answer you and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. Going deeper!   To be able to experience a deepness with the father we have to take the time, remove the noise and soak in his presence.   What is Soaking Prayer? Soaking prayer is the practice of resting in God's presence—slowing down, being still, and allowing the Holy Spirit to minister to us. Unlike intercessory or petitionary prayer, soaking is ...

Standing on Holy Ground: The Intercessor’s Call to the Altar of God

Standing on Holy Ground: The Intercessor’s Call to the Altar of God "Then the Lord said to him, 'Take off the sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.'" — Acts 7:33 (referencing Exodus 3:5) There is something profoundly humbling and awe-inspiring about being made aware that you are standing on holy ground. I was personally reminded of this truth one morning during my commute to work. A familiar song began to stir in my spirit, and I found myself softly singing: "We are standing on holy ground, And I know that there are angels all around. Let us praise Jesus now, For we are standing in His presence on holy ground." That simple moment stayed with me throughout the day, filling my heart and mind with the awareness of God's presence. For Moses, standing on holy ground occurred at the burning bush—God’s divine presence manifesting in the wilderness (Exodus 3:5). But for us, as intercessors, that sacred momen...

Ordered Steps: Walking in Divine Alignment

Image
“ The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” – Psalm 37:23 Each morning, as I settle into my car, I say aloud, “Lord, it’s me and You.” Living in Georgia, I’ve found that I don’t need to check the traffic reports—no matter the day, the interstate is the best route to work. But on one particular morning, something stirred deeper in my spirit. As I started my drive, I found myself humming the old song, “Order My Steps in Your Word, dear Lord.” Before I knew it, I was singing every verse, and it was as if the Lord was gently reminding me of something I used to always pray: “Order my steps, and be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Sometimes I would even personalize it— “Order [insert your name here]’s steps, Lord.” I couldn’t help but wonder why that song resurfaced in such a strong way on this day. But I realized quickly—God was sending a timely reminder that in these critical and urgent times, He is calling His intercessors, pra...

Taste and See That the Lord is Good: The Power of Spending Time with God in Prayer (Psalm 34)

The life of a prayer warrior can often feel overwhelming. We find ourselves carrying the burdens of others, constantly praying for their needs, sometimes at the expense of nurturing our own spiritual well-being. But today, I want to encourage you to pause for a moment and take time to appreciate the goodness of God—for yourself. I had this revelation just a few weeks ago, and it changed my perspective. I remember saying to the Lord, "I want more of You." And in that quiet moment, He spoke so clearly to my heart, saying, “Oh, taste and see.” Let that sink in. It’s an invitation to not just pray for others, but to truly experience God's goodness for yourself. Psalm 34, with its rich message, invites us to experience the Lord’s goodness in a very personal and intimate way. One of the most powerful ways we can do this is through prayer—spending time with God in conversation and communion. In Psalm 34, David begins with a call to worship: "I will bless the Lord at all ti...
